India created history in squash by winning the World Cup for the first time. Playing the final in Chennai on Sunday, the Indian team defeated a strong Hong Kong side 3-0 to clinch the prestigious title.
India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and carried the same momentum into the final. Joshna Chinappa gave India a strong start by defeating Lee Ka Yi in the women’s singles. Abhay followed it up with a dominant win over Alex Lau in the men’s singles to give India a 2-0 lead. The title was sealed when Anahat Singh comfortably beat Tomato Ho in the final women’s singles match.
