Indian shuttlers delivered an impressive performance at the Malaysia Masters Super 500 tournament in Kuala Lumpur. In women’s singles, Ashmita Chaliha secured qualification for the main draw with a strong display. Meanwhile, the Indian men’s doubles pair of Hariharan and Arjun stunned the seventh-seeded Popov brothers from France with a dominant straight-set victory.
The Indian duo defeated Christo Popov and Toma Junior Popov 21-19, 21-15 to storm into the second round. The victory also served as sweet revenge for their defeat against the same opponents in the Thomas Cup semifinals last week. Hariharan and Arjun will next face either Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Martin or China’s Hu Ke Yuan-Lin Xiang Yu pair in the upcoming round.
