India Women have taken complete control of the one-off Test match against England, thanks to a brilliant five-wicket haul by Kranti Goud and another impressive half-century from Smriti Mandhana. Kranti recorded her maiden five-wicket haul in her career, restricting England to 170 runs in their first innings after a strong bowling performance.
In the second innings, Smriti Mandhana remained unbeaten on 69, while Yastika Bhatia scored 39 not out and Shafali Verma contributed 33 runs as India reached 154/1 at the end of Saturday’s play. Adding the first-innings lead of 115 runs, India extended their overall advantage to 269 runs. Earlier, England struggled against India’s bowling attack despite a partnership between Amy Jones (52) and captain Nat Sciver-Brunt (44), as the team failed to cross the 200-run mark.
