India's women's cricket team has secured qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games despite missing out on the semifinals of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. Although India suffered a defeat to Australia in their final Group A match, they emerged as the highest-performing Asian team in the tournament, earning one of the six available Olympic berths. Cricket's return to the Olympics after a gap of 128 years makes the qualification even more significant.
According to the ICC qualification criteria, six teams will compete in both the men's and women's T20 events at LA28. India qualified from Asia, while Australia, South Africa, and Great Britain secured places from Oceania, Africa, and Europe respectively. One berth may go to host nation USA if it enters the ICC Women's T20I top 15 rankings, while the final place will be decided through the ICC Olympic Qualifier in 2027.
