After completing a successful ODI series against West Indies, India is set to begin the five-match T20I series in Lucknow on Tuesday. Captain Shreyas Iyer will be expected to lead from the front against a dangerous Caribbean side that possesses plenty of explosive batting talent. Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford can change the course of a match quickly, while Romario Shepherd and Shamar Springer provide all-round options. Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie strengthen the spin department. India, meanwhile, could face a selection dilemma at the top of the order, with Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Suryavanshi competing for a place alongside Abhishek Sharma. Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube add depth to the batting lineup, while Iyer will be looking to produce a big innings.
The Ekana Stadium pitch is generally known to be slightly slow, with scores around 160-170 often proving competitive. Pacers are expected to get some assistance, while spinners could also play an important role. India may rely on Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav in the spin department, with Arshdeep Singh leading the pace attack alongside either Mayank Yadav or Prince Yadav. India has an impressive record at the Ekana Stadium, having won all three of its previous T20Is there. In 11 T20Is against West Indies at home, India has won nine and lost two. Overall, the two teams have faced each other 31 times in T20Is, with India winning 20 matches, West Indies winning 10 and one ending without a result.
