The India Women’s Cricket Team will look to continue their winning momentum when they face the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team in the second T20I of the five-match series on Tuesday in Visakhapatnam. India registered a convincing eight-wicket victory in the opening match after restricting Sri Lanka to 121/6.
Despite the dominant win, India will be keen to address their fielding concerns, having dropped as many as five catches in the first T20I. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur acknowledged the issue, stating that the team is working on improving its fielding performance. After a six-week break following the World Cup, regaining rhythm in the field may take some time, but the team remains confident.
India’s batting lineup looks strong, with Jemimah Rodrigues carrying her World Cup form into the series. Opener Shafali Verma will be eager to find consistency, while experienced players like Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma add solidity. In bowling, young left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma impressed on debut, conceding just 16 runs in her four overs. Along with Deepti Sharma and Shree Charani, she will handle spin duties, while Arundhati Reddy and Amanjot Kaur lead the pace attack. With no major changes expected in the playing XI, India enter the match as firm favourites, while Sri Lanka face an uphill task to level the series.
