India continued their dominant performance against Sri Lanka in the first Test, reaching 460 for nine at the end of Day 2. Despite rain washing out the entire first session and limiting play to just 43 overs, the Indian batters maintained the momentum once play resumed.
Devdutt Padikkal was the standout performer with an impressive 167, while KL Rahul contributed 82 and Dhruv Jurel scored a valuable 51. Jurel played aggressively, reaching his half-century in 68 balls with four boundaries and a six before being dismissed by Prabath Jayasuriya. Captain Dhananjaya de Silva completed an excellent diving catch at slip.
Sri Lanka’s spinners managed to pull things back, with Prabath Jayasuriya taking four wickets and debutant Keshara Nuwan claiming three. Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 13, while Mohammed Siraj and Manav Suthar added useful runs towards the end. Kuldeep Yadav was unbeaten on 12 and Prasidh Krishna was on one at stumps.
