India created history at the World Para Athletics Championships by finishing with a record 22 medals – including 6 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze. The final day was filled with excitement as Indian athletes displayed remarkable determination and skill. Simran Sharma starred with a silver in the women’s 200m T12, adding to her gold medal in the 100m T12 earlier in the event.
In another inspiring moment, Preethi Pal showcased great mental strength by clinching silver in the women’s 100m T35 despite having to rerun the race due to a starter pistol malfunction. Meanwhile, Navdeep Singh earned silver in the F41 javelin event, and Sandeep claimed bronze in the men’s 200m T44 with a personal best time of 23.60 seconds.
With these stellar performances, India finished 10th overall in the medal standings. While Brazil, China, and Iran dominated the top three spots, India’s campaign was one of its most memorable ever. The athletes now aim for greater heights at the Asian Para Games 2026 and future Paralympic Games.
