India Must Win Against Sri Lanka.. A Big Challenge Ahead!

India face a demanding road to the World Test Championship final, with nine Tests remaining in the current cycle. To strengthen their chances without depending heavily on other teams’ results, India will need a strong run of victories. Captain Shubman Gill has said the team may need to win six or seven of the remaining Tests to stay in contention. Even if India lose the opening Test against Sri Lanka, winning most of the remaining matches will be crucial. Under the WTC points system, a win earns 12 points while a draw earns four, making every result important.

India’s remaining schedule is particularly challenging, with two Tests against Sri Lanka followed by two against New Zealand and a five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. India are currently fifth in the WTC standings, leaving little room for further setbacks. A strong result in Sri Lanka would provide a valuable boost, while dropped points could force India to rely on the results of other contenders as the race for the final intensifies.
