The Indian women’s cricket team registered back-to-back T20 victories against Sri Lanka at the same Visakhapatnam venue where they had earlier suffered defeats during the ODI World Cup. In the second T20 played on Tuesday, India won convincingly by 7 wickets.
Batting first, Sri Lanka were restricted to 128 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs, with strong bowling performances from Sri Charani, Vaishnavi Sharma, and Sneh Rana. While chasing the target, Shafali Verma led the charge with an unbeaten 69, guiding India to a comfortable victory.
The series win has boosted India’s confidence significantly. Meanwhile, Deepti Sharma achieved a major milestone by rising to the No.1 position in the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings for the first time in her career.
