In a high-voltage encounter of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 held on Sunday (February 15) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India registered a commanding 61-run victory over arch-rivals Pakistan. Powered by Ishan Kishan’s heroic batting display and a collective bowling effort, Team India outclassed Pakistan in all departments to secure a memorable win. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and opted to field first.
Batting first, India posted a competitive total of 175 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Opener Ishan Kishan played a sensational knock, scoring 77 runs off just 40 balls with ten fours and three sixes, registering the fastest half-century by an Indian batter against Pakistan in T20 World Cup history. Captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed 32 runs, while Tilak Varma added a valuable 25. Despite Saim Ayub claiming three wickets, India managed to put up a strong total.

Chasing 176, Pakistan’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure and was bowled out for 114 runs in 18 overs. Hardik Pandya struck early by dismissing Sahibzada Farhan for a duck, while Jasprit Bumrah dismantled the top order with disciplined bowling. Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel controlled the middle overs, picking up crucial wickets, with Usman Khan’s 44 being the only notable resistance. India sealed a 61-run victory, with Ishan Kishan earning the Player of the Match award. The win strengthened India’s position at the top of Group A and extended their T20 World Cup dominance over Pakistan to 8–1.
