The Indian men’s junior hockey team continued its dominant run at the Junior Hockey World Cup, registering its third straight win and securing a place in the quarterfinals. On Tuesday, India defeated Switzerland 5–0 in its final group-stage match.
After convincing victories over Chile and Oman earlier, India carried the same momentum into this match. Manmeet opened the scoring in the 2nd minute and struck again in the 11th minute, giving India a strong lead early on.
Sharadanand extended the advantage to 3–0 in the 13th minute. Arshdeep then added another goal, stretching the scoreline to 4–0. Stunned by India’s aggressive play, Switzerland struggled throughout the match and failed to score a single goal.
Six minutes before the final whistle, Sharadanand scored again, sealing India’s emphatic 5–0 victory.
India will now face Belgium in the quarterfinal match scheduled for December 5.
