

Team India got valuable match practice ahead of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka, defeating Sri Lanka XI by six wickets in their three-day warm-up match. Sri Lanka XI declared their second innings at 200/6 on the third day, setting India a target of 206. India chased it down in just 44.3 overs, with Mohammed Siraj producing a spectacular finish. With 16 runs needed in the final over, Siraj smashed three consecutive sixes to seal the victory.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was dismissed for a duck in the first innings, bounced back with a fluent 61 not out off 46 balls, including nine fours and two sixes. Captain Shubman Gill, who did not bat in the first innings because of a finger injury, returned in the second innings and scored 44 off 54 balls with seven fours. Rishabh Pant made 28, Ravindra Jadeja scored 22 before retiring hurt, and Dhruv Jurel added 17. Earlier, Sri Lanka XI posted 363/8 declared in the first innings, while India declared at 357/6.
