The second Test between India and Sri Lanka witnessed a heated exchange between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lankan pacer Asitha Fernando on the opening day. The two players were seen confronting each other before their teammates intervened and defused the situation. Videos of the incident have since attracted attention on social media. Reacting to the episode, former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja said sledging should work both ways, stressing that players who cannot take comments from opponents should not provoke them either.
India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak took a relatively relaxed view of the incident, describing such moments as a natural part of competitive cricket. He said the bowler had made some comments and that heated exchanges can happen in such situations. However, Kotak also felt Jaiswal could have avoided getting too close to Fernando. His comments have added another perspective to the debate surrounding the on-field confrontation.
