The International Cricket Council (ICC) has extended significant support to Bangladesh cricket. Pakistan, which had earlier decided not to play against India in support of Bangladesh, agreed to face India during the ICC meeting held on Monday. In the same meeting, the ICC announced a series of decisions providing relief to Bangladesh, according to an official statement. While expressing disappointment over Bangladesh’s absence from the World Cup, the ICC clarified that no financial, sporting, or administrative penalties would be imposed on the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
The ICC further stated that under its regulations, the Bangladesh Cricket Board retains the right to approach the Dispute Resolution Committee, ensuring that its rights remain fully protected. Additionally, the ICC confirmed that Bangladesh will host an ICC event ahead of the 2031 Men’s World Cup, with indications pointing towards the Under-19 World Cup. Cricket experts believe these decisions have provided major relief to Bangladesh, especially after missing participation in the T20 World Cup 2026.
