India registered a commanding 95-run victory over the Netherlands in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Headingley. Batting first, India posted an imposing total of 209/5, with star opener Smriti Mandhana leading the charge with a brilliant 74 off 47 balls. In response, the Netherlands were bowled out for 114 in 17.3 overs. Mandhana’s knock laid a strong foundation for India’s massive total and earned her the Player of the Match award.
Speaking after the match, Mandhana said the Leeds pitch is generally favorable for batting and praised the Netherlands for their competitive performance. Despite scoring her second consecutive half-century, she stated that she is not fully satisfied with her batting and believes there is room for improvement. She also lauded Shafali Verma for her aggressive approach and appreciated bowler Shree Charani for her outstanding spell. India will next face South Africa in a crucial match in Manchester on June 21, carrying strong momentum from this convincing win.
