

Indian Grandmasters Koneru Humpy and Arjun Erigaisi delivered commendable performances at the FIDE World Rapid Chess Championship held in Doha, clinching bronze medals in their respective categories. Humpy, hailing from Vijayawada, added her fifth medal at the World Rapid Championship, reaffirming her consistency at the highest level of international chess.
Arjun Erigaisi from Warangal secured his maiden medal at the World Rapid Championship, marking a significant milestone in his career. With this achievement, Arjun became the only Indian male player to finish on the podium at a World Rapid Championship since five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand. The twin successes brought pride to Telugu chess, highlighting the growing dominance of Grandmasters from the region.
