With their third defeat in the Kolkata Test, Team India’s World Test Championship 2025–27 campaign has become complicated. Under Shubman Gill’s captaincy, India has so far registered 4 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw, putting them in a difficult mid-table position. Their current Points Percentage (PCT) is just above 54%, which is not enough to finish in the top two. Historically, teams need around 64–68% PCT to secure a place in the WTC final.
For India to reach that range, they must win most of their remaining matches. The margin for error from this point is extremely narrow. Any further defeat could significantly hurt their qualification chances. However, if India manages a near-perfect record in upcoming series, they can still make a late surge into the top two and stay in the race for the WTC final.
