Hockey World Cup 2026: India Ready for the Big Challenge in New Format

The prestigious Hockey World Cup is all set to begin on August 15, with the Netherlands and Belgium jointly hosting the mega event. The Indian men’s team will enter the tournament with the goal of ending a 51-year wait for the World Cup title. A total of 16 teams will participate in the competition, divided into four groups of four teams each.

The tournament will feature a significant change in format compared with previous editions. The traditional quarter-final stage has been scrapped, with the competition set to be conducted across three levels. India has been placed in Group D alongside England, Pakistan and Wales. The World Cup will be held from August 15 to 30, with teams battling through the revised format for the coveted title.
