Jasprit Bumrah’s absence will be a significant setback for India ahead of the Test series beginning on the 15th, but former Sri Lanka all-rounder Farveez Maharoof believes young fast bowler Gurunur Brar has the ability to make a strong impact. Maharoof highlighted Bumrah’s exceptional reverse-swing skills with the old ball but said Brar could emerge as an important option for India during the series.
According to Maharoof, Brar possesses a combination of pace and bounce that can make him difficult for batters to handle. His effectiveness was reportedly evident during the warm-up game, where several of his deliveries troubled the batters and some struck them hard. Maharoof also rated Mohammed Siraj highly but believes Brar could develop into a dangerous weapon for India. With his pace and ability to generate bounce, the youngster could play a crucial role in the absence of the experienced Bumrah.
