Nitish Kumar Reddy, one of India’s most promising young all-rounders, celebrated his 22nd birthday on May 26. Known for his calm batting approach, explosive stroke play, and ability to handle pressure situations, Nitish has quickly become a rising star in Indian cricket. Born in Visakhapatnam in 2003, the youngster first grabbed attention during the 2017-18 Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, where he smashed a record 1,237 runs and earned the BCCI Best Cricketer award for his outstanding performances.
Nitish’s career took a major turn during the 2024 IPL season with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Batting in the lower middle order, he played several match-winning knocks with an impressive strike rate of 143 and also picked up crucial wickets, winning the Emerging Player of the Season award. His performances earned him a ₹6 crore retention from SRH. Nitish later made headlines with a historic Test century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against Australia, becoming the first Indian batter to score a century in Australia while batting at No. 8. Fans and experts now believe he could become India’s next genuine fast-bowling all-rounder after Hardik Pandya.
