Fine Imposed on Punjab Captain in IPL 2026

In IPL 2026, Punjab Kings registered a five-wicket victory against Chennai Super Kings. Captain Shreyas Iyer played a brilliant innings, scoring a half-century and leading his team to victory. However, the team was found guilty of maintaining a slow over rate during the match, resulting in a penalty imposed by the IPL authorities. Iyer has been fined ₹24 lakh for the offence.

This marks the second slow over rate violation by Punjab Kings this season. As per Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, the fine was doubled from the previous ₹12 lakh penalty. Additionally, the rest of the playing XI, including the impact player, will face a fine of either ₹6 lakh or 25% of their match fee.
