England secured a much-needed win in the Boxing Day Test, defeating Australia by four wickets in a thrilling contest. Chasing a target of 175 runs, England reached the total in 32.2 overs, losing six wickets to seal their first victory of the Ashes series.
Australia were bowled out for 152 in the first innings, while England responded with 110 runs. In the second innings, the Australian batting line-up struggled once again and was restricted to 132 runs, setting England a manageable target.
Despite Australia winning the first three matches of the five-Test Ashes series, England produced a determined performance in the fourth Test to keep the series alive and restore some pride.
