

India squandered a lead due to defensive lapses and suffered a 2-4 defeat against England in their Group D match at the Hockey World Cup. Harmanpreet Singh scored in the 17th minute, while Dilpreet Singh found the net in the 25th minute for India. England’s Bandurak scored twice in the 14th and 55th minutes, while Rushmore and Henry added one goal each in the 39th and 43rd minutes.
England took an early lead, but India fought back strongly in the second quarter to move ahead 2-1. However, England responded with three successive goals to seal the victory. India have collected three points from two matches and now face a crucial clash against Pakistan on Wednesday. A win or draw will take India into the second round, while a defeat will see Harmanpreet Singh’s side eliminated from the tournament.
