Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj said that his selection into the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2026 felt like a dream. He said that he received the unexpected call from the team while he was preparing to go to Spain to watch a Real Madrid football match. Siraj revealed that when Suryakumar Yadav called to inform him that he had been selected in place of the injured Harshit Rana, he initially couldn't believe it and told him, "Don't joke."

Siraj said that his joy knew no bounds when selection committee member Pragyan Ojha also confirmed the same news a short while later. He mentioned that since he had been away from T20s recently, he hadn't expected to be included in the World Cup squad at all, and even while traveling to Mumbai, it felt like a dream. He commented that whatever God has written will happen, and added that being selected for the team is very special to him.
