Portugal football star Cristiano Ronaldo has been provisionally suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) after leaving the national team’s training camp amid a reported dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus. Ronaldo was reportedly unhappy after remaining on the bench throughout Portugal’s Nations League match against Norway. He subsequently left the camp ahead of the match against Denmark and returned to his club, Al-Nassr. The federation has initiated disciplinary proceedings to examine the incident.
The disciplinary committee is expected to determine the final outcome of the case. Reports indicate that the applicable rules could allow a suspension of up to six months and a fine for leaving the team without authorisation, although the final punishment has not been confirmed. Ronaldo has apologised for his departure and for not properly acknowledging fans and teammates before leaving. He has also indicated that he is prepared to accept the consequences of his actions.
