CM Vijay Announces Cash Reward for Asian Games Medallists

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced a cash reward of ₹50 lakh each for Vithya Ramraj and Vishal T.K., who were part of India’s silver medal winning mixed 4x400m relay team at the Asian Games. The Indian quartet of Vithya Ramraj, Vishal T.K., M.R. Poovamma and Manu T.S. clocked 3:14.46 to finish second behind Bahrain, which won gold in a Games record time of 3:12.87.

The Tamil Nadu government said the two athletes will receive the reward under the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority’s Elite Sportsperson Scheme. CM Vijay congratulated the athletes and said their achievement was a matter of pride for Tamil Nadu. The announcement came shortly after he awarded ₹75 lakh to cricketer G. Kamalini, who was part of India’s women’s T20 team that won gold at the Asian Games.
