After concluding his official visit to London, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is set to return to the state and personally felicitate Telugu cricketer Shree Charani, who played a crucial role in India’s historic Women’s World Cup 2025 victory. The CM will honour her at a grand event in Amaravati, celebrating her contribution to the nation’s triumph.
Shree Charani, a young left-arm spinner from Kadapa district, became one of India’s breakout stars in the tournament. She took a total of 11 wickets in the World Cup — including three key dismissals in the semifinal against Australia — and maintained an impressive economy rate throughout. Her journey from a small village in Rayalaseema to lifting the World Cup trophy has inspired millions and brought immense pride to Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu Naidu, who recently secured major investment deals for the state during his London visit, expressed that Andhra Pradesh stands for both global excellence and local pride. The government has planned a special felicitation ceremony in Amaravati for Shree Charani, to be attended by sports officials, young athletes, and leaders from across the state — a celebration of talent, dedication, and dreams realized.
