Centre Unveils Massive Sports Funding Plan for 2026-27 to 2030-31

The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has allocated ₹7,386 crore to national sports federations with a focus on strengthening India’s sporting ecosystem and preparing athletes for major international competitions. The funds will be utilised between 2026-27 and 2030-31 to support the organisation of national and international sporting events and provide financial assistance to athletes and teams participating in the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

Of the total allocation, ₹2,500 crore has been earmarked for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The government plans to spend ₹4,236.74 crore on athlete training and ₹3,150 crore on organising sporting events. The initiative is aimed at strengthening sports federations, improving training and preparation facilities, and encouraging efficient hosting of international tournaments in India.
