Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana have returned to India’s T20I squad for the three-match series against Afghanistan, scheduled for the 13th, 15th and 16th. All four players had been sidelined with injuries and recently completed their recovery at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Their selection, however, does not guarantee a place in the playing XI, as they will have to prove their fitness before the series. The matches are also being viewed as an important opportunity for the players to regain form and match fitness ahead of the Asian Games.
Hardik Pandya, who has been recovering from an injury sustained during the IPL, has not been included as he is yet to regain full fitness and is expected to return for the Asian Games. The T20I squad, led by Shreyas Iyer, also includes young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, along with Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma and others. All three Afghanistan T20Is will be played at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana
