India registered a dominant victory in the first T20I at Durban, defeating South Africa by a massive 101 runs. After posting 175/6, the Indian bowlers bundled out the hosts for just 74.
Jasprit Bumrah was the highlight of the match, becoming only the second Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in T20 Internationals, following Arshdeep Singh. More importantly, Bumrah has now become the first Indian fast bowler ever to claim 100-plus wickets in all three formats Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
Starting the match with 99 wickets, Bumrah picked up his 100th by dismissing Dewald Brevis. Arshdeep immediately rushed to him and hugged him, a moment that made fans emotional.
Speaking after the match, Arshdeep said:
It felt really special to see Bumrah bhai join the 100-wicket club. I instinctively ran to hug him. Bowling alongside him is always fun. When both of us take wickets, it makes the captain’s job easier. Whether Surya gives me or him three powerplay overs, we both just look to contribute the best we can.
Fans believe the Bumrah–Arshdeep pair will be a crucial weapon for India heading into the 2026 T20 World Cup.
