Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has made a comeback to the Indian T20I squad after a four-year international absence. The 36-year-old last represented India in a T20I against New Zealand in November 2022, and his return comes with the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand. The first match is scheduled to be played in Christchurch on October 22.
Bhuvneshwar’s inclusion adds experience to India’s pace attack, particularly with his ability to swing the new ball and bowl effectively during the powerplay. Shreyas Iyer will captain the T20I side, with Tilak Varma as vice-captain. The squad also includes Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Naman Dhir, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav.
