The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come under criticism on social media after highlighting the performance of Aryaveer Sehwag, son of former India opener Virender Sehwag. Aryaveer, captain of the Delhi Under-19 team, scored an impressive 173 off 143 balls against Chandigarh in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy on Friday. The BCCI shared clips of his innings on its social media platforms, drawing attention to the young batter’s performance.
However, Bihar batter Anmol Kumar reportedly scored 184 off just 86 balls against Haryana on the same day, helping his team secure victory. Fans pointed out that the BCCI did not publish a similar post highlighting Anmol’s innings. This prompted allegations of unequal treatment, with some social media users questioning whether the children of former star cricketers receive more attention than other promising young players. The criticism centres on the board’s social media coverage; the difference in posts alone does not establish deliberate bias by the BCCI.
