The 6th match of the 15th season of the Big Bash League (BBL) was a historic one. Batting first, the Perth Scorchers scored a massive 257/6 in 20 overs. Finn Allen (79) and Cooper Connolly (77) played aggressively, hitting a flurry of sixes. The Perth team, which hit a total of 18 sixes, registered the third-highest score in BBL history. Cricket fans who witnessed this massive score thought the match was surely in Perth's favor.
However, the Brisbane Heat batsmen turned the impossible into reality. Although Colin Munro was dismissed on the very first ball of the chase, Jack Wildermuth (110 not out – 54 balls) and Matt Renshaw (102 – 51 balls) played magnificent innings to guide their team to victory. Together, they forged a 213-run partnership for the second wicket, each hitting 9 sixes. This is the first time in T20 cricket history that two players have scored centuries while chasing a target.
With this aggressive batting, Brisbane Heat chased down the target of 258 runs with a ball to spare, securing an extraordinary 8-wicket victory. This set a new record for the highest successful run chase in Big Bash history. With a total of 515 runs and 36 sixes scored in the match, this encounter will be remembered as a special one in cricket history.
