Team India all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the ODI series against New Zealand after sustaining an injury in the first ODI. As a result, he will miss the remaining matches of the series. Young all-rounder Ayush Badoni, 26, from Delhi, has been selected as his replacement in the squad. This marks Badoni’s maiden call-up to the Indian national team.
Ayush Badoni has played 27 List A matches so far, scoring 693 runs in 22 innings, including one century and five half-centuries. He has also taken 18 wickets. In the Indian Premier League, representing the Lucknow Super Giants, he has featured in 56 matches, scoring 963 runs with six half-centuries. He now earns his first opportunity to represent Team India at the international level.
