Asian Games - 13-Year-Old Chinese Athlete Creates History

Thirteen-year-old Chinese swimmer Yu Zidi has created history at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan by winning gold in the women’s 200m butterfly. Yu clocked 2:05.08 to set a new Asian Games record, finishing more than three seconds ahead of compatriot Chang Mohan, who won silver.

Yu, who will turn 14 next month, has already become the youngest swimming World Championships medallist. With her latest Asian Games triumph, she has set her sights on bigger goals, including competing for Olympic success at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
