In a thrilling first semifinal of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 held in Doha, India-A suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Bangladesh-A in the Super Over.
India-A opted to field first after winning the toss and initially kept the Bangladeshi batters in check. However, Bangladesh accelerated in the final five overs, smashing 75 runs and finishing at 194/6. Rahman scored a brilliant 65, while Meherob contributed a valuable unbeaten 48.
Chasing 195, India-A got off to a blazing start with Vaibhav Suryavanshi scoring 38 off just 15 balls. Nihal Wadhera chipped in with a crucial 32, keeping India-A in the hunt.
In the final over, a missed run-out chance by Akbar Ali allowed India-A to tie the match and push it into a Super Over.
However, the Super Over turned disastrous for India-A. Ripon Mondal bowled a perfect yorker to dismiss captain Jitesh Sharma on the very first ball and removed Ashutosh Sharma on the next, giving India-A zero runs.
In reply, Suyash Sharma got Yasir Ali out on the first ball, but a wide on the next delivery gave Bangladesh-A the one run they needed to secure victory and a place in the final.
This loss comes as a shocking exit for India-A, who were favourites to advance.
