Indian shuttler Asmita Chaliha advanced to the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Masters Super 500 badminton tournament. In the women’s singles pre quarterfinals held on Thursday, Ashmita secured a comfortable 21-13, 21-16 victory over Malaysia’s Go Jin Wei.
However, other Indian players faced disappointment in the tournament. Malvika Bansod lost in the Round of 16, while Devika Sihag was defeated by top seed Chen Yufei. Indian pairs in men’s doubles and mixed doubles also exited the competition in the pre-quarterfinal stage.
