India took the lead in the T20 series against the West Indies after winning the third match in Indore. Indian opener Abhishek Sharma delivered a powerful innings of 69 off just 30 balls, including six fours and five sixes. Reacting to his performance, West Indies all-rounder Shamar Springer revealed that his team had adopted a different strategy to contain the aggressive batter. Instead of allowing him to attack freely, the West Indies wanted to restrict him to singles and doubles. However, Springer admitted that the plan did not work as Abhishek maintained his attacking approach from the beginning and gave India valuable momentum.
Springer also acknowledged India’s bowling performance during the West Indies’ chase, saying his team lost ground by failing to convert some deliveries into runs. Abhishek, meanwhile, said he recognised that the opposition had changed its approach against him, particularly when the West Indies opened the bowling with an off-spinner. He explained that scoring quickly during the powerplay was important for India, so he had to respond more effectively than the opposition’s strategy. Abhishek also stressed that the West Indies are a dangerous, explosive side and that India could not afford to be complacent against them.
