YSRCP Betrayed BCs by Cutting Reservation, Alleges Reddy Subrahmanyam

TDP national vice-president Reddy Subrahmanyam alleged that the previous YSRCP government, headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, had reduced the reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local bodies from 34% to 24%. Addressing a press conference at the TDP central office in Mangalagiri on Saturday, he said the coalition government was taking steps to provide 34% reservation for BCs in local body elections.

Subrahmanyam further alleged that YSRCP leaders were attempting to obstruct the coalition government’s decision to provide 34% BC reservation through legal proceedings. The reservation issue, however, is currently before the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which recently reserved its judgment on challenges to the government orders providing 34% reservation.
