Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s claims regarding a proposed ₹1 lakh crore horticulture investment in Rayalaseema. Jagan alleged that there was no corresponding budget allocation or expenditure and questioned the government’s approach to supporting farmers. He also claimed that the Price Stabilisation Fund had been weakened, while free crop insurance and zero-interest schemes had been discontinued. These are allegations made by Jagan and the YSRCP.
Jagan further raised concerns over drought conditions in Rayalaseema, claiming that around seven to eight lakh borewells had dried up and that farmers were spending heavily on tanker water to protect horticulture crops. He also alleged that the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project was being held up and urged the government to immediately undertake drought-relief measures. The YSRCP has separately demanded measures including crop-loss assistance, input subsidies and restoration of certain farmer-support schemes.
