S. Venkat Rao, Executive Officer (EO) of Yadagirigutta Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, has resigned from his position. While serving as Commissioner of the Endowments Department, he was additionally assigned duties as EO of Yadagirigutta Temple. Although he retired on August 30 last year, the government allowed him to continue as temple EO and also appointed him as Special Officer for Shilparamam Arts, Crafts & Cultural Society.
Since taking charge, he faced criticism for visiting the temple only on Saturdays and Sundays. He was accused of failing to act against influential figures in the Chintapandu (sacred fruit) theft scandal, handling temple administration unilaterally, and ignoring Aleru MLA Beerla Ailayya, the government whip.
Recently, for the Vaikunta Ekadashi celebrations, he invited the Chief Minister and Governor without informing the MLA or Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, sending an invitation to Ailayya only through the Assistant EO. This reportedly angered the MLA and MP. Despite rumors that these controversies led to his resignation, Venkat Rao told the media that he informed the Chief Secretary of stepping down due to health reasons, and the government has relieved him. The government has accepted his resignation and issued orders accordingly.
