International media reports have claimed that Xi Jinping recently discussed the Russia-Ukraine war with Donald Trump and reportedly suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin may later regret the invasion of Ukraine. Since the war began, Russia has taken control of nearly 20 percent of Ukrainian territory, including Crimea. The reports have sparked speculation that China may be reassessing its position on the ongoing conflict.
However, neither the United States nor China officially confirmed that the Ukraine issue was discussed during the recent summit talks. Meanwhile, Putin arrived in Beijing today for a two-day official visit shortly after Trump’s China trip. The visit is expected to focus on bilateral ties and global geopolitical issues, amid continuing international attention on Russia-China relations and the Ukraine conflict.
