

The Lok Sabha has approved the bill introduced in place of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, titled “VBG Ramji.” The bill was passed amid protests and disruptions by opposition Members of Parliament. Following its passage in the Lok Sabha, the bill is set to be introduced in the Rajya Sabha.
Parliament has also approved the Shanti Bill, aimed at encouraging private sector participation in the nuclear energy sector. The Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha through a voice vote.
Despite opposition protests, the Lok Sabha passed the Insurance Amendment Bill, titled “Sub Ka Beema, Sub Ka Raksha,” which increases the foreign direct investment (FDI) limit in the insurance sector to 100 percent. Additionally, the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025 was approved by the Lok Sabha.
