Political developments in Tamil Nadu are expected to take a crucial turn today as discussions over government formation continue. Though TVK emerged victorious in 108 constituencies, Vijay contesting from two seats reduced the party’s effective strength to 107. With the support of five Congress MLAs, TVK’s tally has now reached 112 in the 233-member Assembly. However, the party still needs support from five more MLAs to cross the required majority mark of 117.
Meanwhile, CPI, CPM and VCK parties, which won two seats each, are expected to announce their stand today after conducting high-level meetings at their respective party offices. Reports suggest Vijay already spoke over the phone with VCK chief Thirumavalavan and leaders of Communist parties regarding possible support. Tamil Nadu politics has now turned highly intense with all eyes on today’s developments.
