Government Whip Balmoor Venkat strongly criticised the BJP’s 48-hour protest over pending fee reimbursement. Questioning BJP leader Ramachander Rao’s protest, Venkat asked whether the BJP had the moral right or credibility to speak about students’ issues. He questioned the party’s response during incidents involving NEET paper leaks, student distress, unemployment and previous examination paper leaks. He also asked why the BJP did not protest when the previous BRS government reportedly had fee reimbursement dues of around Rs 8,000 crore.
Venkat alleged that the BJP’s latest protest had a political motive despite the state government announcing that fee reimbursement would be paid through a green channel from this year. He said the government had informed the High Court that fee reimbursement would be deposited directly into students’ accounts on a regular basis. He further claimed that Rs 300 crore had been kept ready in advance for payments to students, making the continued protest unnecessary. Venkat alleged that the BJP was politically aligning with the BRS to target the Congress and said people were closely watching the party’s protests and political moves.
