The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators are set to elect their Legislature Party leader today amid heightened political activity in West Bengal. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Kolkata to oversee discussions related to government formation. Shah will also hold a meeting with the newly elected BJP MLAs as the party prepares to stake claim to power in the state.
Meanwhile, the Governor has reportedly dissolved the West Bengal Assembly, paving the way for the formation of a new government on Friday. Several senior leaders, including Suvendu Adhikari, are said to be in the race for the Chief Minister’s post, while suspense continues over the BJP leadership’s final decision. The swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister is scheduled to take place tomorrow at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata.
