C. Joseph Vijay officially took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10 at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium after the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led alliance secured a majority in the 2026 Assembly elections. While the ceremony turned into a historic celebration for supporters, many people online were left emotional over the absence of Vijay’s wife Sangeetha and their children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Sasha. Vijay’s parents, filmmaker S. A. Chandrasekhar and singer Shoba Chandrasekhar, attended the ceremony and were seen proudly celebrating the moment.
The absence of Vijay’s immediate family quickly became a major discussion point on social media, with fans describing the occasion as emotional and incomplete. Online conversations surrounding Vijay’s personal and family life resurfaced following the event. Meanwhile, actress Trisha Krishnan also drew attention after attending the swearing-in ceremony and interacting warmly with Vijay’s family members. Despite the emotional discussions, Vijay’s swearing-in remains one of Tamil Nadu’s biggest political moments in recent decades, as he became one of the first major Indian actors to become Chief Minister in his very first electoral attempt.
