Vijay’s Key Demand on Women’s Reservation

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and Tamil Nadu CM Vijay has made a key demand on women’s reservation in Parliament. He called for 33% reservation for women to be implemented immediately within the existing 543 Lok Sabha seats. Vijay said the quota should come into effect from the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

Vijay also urged that women’s reservation should not be delayed until the completion of the delimitation exercise. He said delimitation and women’s reservation should be treated as separate issues. He stressed the need to ensure greater political representation for women by implementing the reservation at the earliest.
