The Indian National Congress on Sunday alleged that Instagram blocked photos of its senior leader Rahul Gandhi with actor-turned-politician Vijay. The party claimed that the action was due to regulations imposed by the Centre’s IT Ministry.
Rahul Gandhi had attended Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony in Chennai on Sunday. Following the event, photos of the two leaders were shared on social media. Congress leader Srivatsa raised the issue on X, stating that Instagram had blocked the images and that Rahul Gandhi’s social media accounts were not visible for some time.
Calling it an attempt to suppress opposition voices, the Congress strongly criticized the move. However, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology denied the allegations, stating that no such action was taken under its directives.
